Beeler's top finish leads SL to Lakes 8 triumph

Spring Lake's girls cross country team ran past the rest of the field at Tuesday's first Lakes Eight Conference jamboree of the fall, which was held at Tri-County. The Lakers finished with 34 points, followed by Fremont (45), Ludington (64), Newaygo (139), Tri-County (162), Fruitport (168), Grant (175) and Orchard View (182). The Lakers' Brittany Beeler won the race with a time of 19 minutes, 12 seconds. Cory Cook was fifth at 20:09, followed by Carlyn Artega in sixth in 20:15. Ashley

Warner took ninth at 20:29, Halle Billinghurst took 13th at 21:05, Jamie Kossuth was 16th at 21:11, and Gretta Nyboer 18th at 21:31.

The Lakers’ boys placed second at Tuesday’s event. Ludington was first with 47 points, followed by Spring Lake with 73.
