GH Twp. opens leaf drop-off site early

Due to the early drop of leaves from the trees, Grand Haven Township Manager Bill Cargo has approved an early opening of the township's leaf drop-off program. The leaf drop-off area will be open beginning today at 13300 168th Ave., and may be accessed from either the Ferris Street entrance or the 168th Avenue entrance of the township's complex. It will be open through Nov. 20. The site is only open to Grand Haven Township residents and ID is required.

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.

The drop-off site will only accept grass, leaves and similar yard waste. No branches, shrubs or wood will be accepted.

The material will be composted and recycled by being mixed with dredge material from the Grand River to create topsoil.
