Alexander Brock, 19, is being held in the Ottawa County Jail on a $100,000 bond, WZZM-TV reported, on charges of kidnapping and assault.

The Holland Department of Public Safety and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department jointly investigated the incident. They said the 22-year-old Holland woman reported to police on Monday that she had been taken against her will from an address on E. 14th Street in Holland around 8 a.m. that day.

Police said they then determined the woman was taken by an ex-boyfriend to a residence on Wendy Way Drive in Park Township, where she was assaulted by the suspect.

“She did sustain injuries that were non-life-threatening,” said Capt. Robert Buursma of the Holland Department of Public Safety. “She was able to get free of the suspect and report the incident to the Holland city authorities. The sheriff’s office became involved when it was learned that the suspect had transported the victim to Park Township, where the incident continued.”

Both the suspect and victim are Hope College students, according to college spokesman Tom Renner. He  also said the woman was treated for injuries at Holland Hospital and released.
