While not due until Jan. 5, she arrived at 7:10 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Her parents, Jessica Sabo and Ross Reuterdahl of Spring Lake, were home watching the Lions play the Packers on Sunday afternoon. Sabo said she knew at about 9 a.m. that the baby would be coming soon, but they thought they could watch the football game before heading to the hospital.
“We waited to go to the hospital at halftime,” Sabo said. “We’re big Lions fans.”
A few hours later, Charlie arrived — weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces; and 20 inches long.
“She does have quite a bit of hair,” Sabo said from the birthing center this morning. “I think she looks more like (Ross).”
Sabo said they didn’t expect to have the first baby of the year at the Grand Haven hospital, but are now excited about it. They received a gift basket from the NOCH Auxiliary for the honor.
Sabo said both she and Charlie were healthy and set to be discharged this morning.
