Man’s body found in pond near Aquinas dorm

A guard at the school spotted the body floating in the water about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The pond is near Willowbrook dormitory. Authorities said the man appeared to be about 30-35 years old.

Police Capt. Eric Payne said the man may have been trying to walk across the pond and fell in. Ice covered part of the pond Wednesday, while ducks swam in open water in part of it.

Payne said an autopsy will determine what killed the man.

Police said there are no known witnesses to the incident, and the college is on break.
