Grand Haven officers were dispatched to an alarm at the store at 1:45 a.m. Officers said they found evidence that there had been a breaking and entering of the business. They searched the building and the area, but did not locate any suspects.

A K-9 unit was not available at the time, said Lt. Renee Freeman of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.

The case remains under investigation.

In addition, GHDPS has been responding to complaints involving larcenies from motor vehicles occurring in the northwest area of the city — specifically west of U.S. 31, near Fulton and Elliott streets. An unknown subject has been entering unlocked vehicles and taking personal property.

GHDPS reminds everyone, regardless of where your vehicle is parked, to always lock your doors and keep valuables out of plain view.

Anyone with information on these incidents is encouraged to contact GHDPS at 842-3460 or call Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT.
