GHAPS transportation fleet receives state award

Grand Haven Area Public Schools was recently awarded a Certificate of Excellence from the Michigan State Police for successful school bus safety inspections.

The state police inspect every school district’s buses across the state to ensure safety requirements are met. For a district the size of Grand Haven, with 54 busses, it takes more than a week to finish the inspection.

“Our two bus mechanics, Dale Ortquist and Dan Shunta, keep our bus fleet in excellent condition,” GHAPS Transportation Director Rod Jonas said. “Through their hard work and expertise, we have achieved the top rating three out of the past four years.”
