The metal building in the 2500 block of South Slocum Road housed Cast Metal Core. The Ravenna company makes sand cores for foundries. Fire officials said a wall heater ignited combustible materials that were too close to the unit.
Three adults, including the building'’s owner, were inside when the fire started. Two adults were living inside a small office inside the building. All three were uninjured, authorities said.
Heavy smoke could be seen for several miles and filled another building next door to the factory.
