The “Ski and Smooch” event will take place from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. The cost is $10 per couple.
Participants will ski along a 2-mile loop trail (approximately 60-90 minutes) — and stopping along the way for romantic surprises, including a warm beverage break at the tip of the peninsula. Couples will have their picture taken during the event and e-mailed on Valentine’s Day to memorialize the occasion.
Participants will also be eligible to win one of many door prizes — including a custom jigsaw puzzle, county park passes, free snowshoe rental at the Nature Education Center, wine, an overnight at the Boyden House, a couple’s massage from Wendy Schweifler and gift certificates from Jack’s at the Holiday Inn in Spring Lake.
“Ski and Smooch” will become “Hike and Hug” if there is not enough snow to ski.
Registration is required. Visit www.miottawa.org/parks and follow the links for the Greenway information to register online, or call 616-738-4810.
The Greenway Celebration is a year-long series of events and speakers all focused on celebrating the strides made toward establishing a public greenway along the Grand River in Ottawa County. A volunteer group called the Greenway Backers have planned a full year of events, speakers, programs and permanent projects to help get the word out about all the parks, public open space lands and trails along the river.
