Police say woman stabbed 5 times by her son

Police said a 45-year-old Norton Shores woman was stabbed by her son Saturday night.

Norton Shores officers were dispatched to a home in the 2600 block of Fairfield Road at 9:40 p.m. on a domestic situation. They found the woman had been stabbed five times. She was taken to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, where police said she is recovering from stab wounds to her chest and back.

Police said the suspect, Dontell Demetrius-Lovel Coleman, 26, lives in the same household. He was taken into custody at the corner of Fifth Street and Rotterdam Avenue in Muskegon Heights shortly after the incident.

Coleman has been charged with assault with intent to murder. He is being held in the Muskegon County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
