Waterford Township police said Friday that the animals were seized Wednesday after officers responded to a complaint about a man and woman arguing in their front yard.
The woman said her fiancé locked her out of the home as she was moving out.
After helping her get inside, officers found the alligator in a plastic swimming pool in the basement. The python was in a glass tank in the living room. Both violate a township ordinance prohibiting exotic animals.
Charges are pending for the woman who owns the snake. Police said a 35-year-old man was cited for possessing the alligator and agreed to find another home for it.
