Relay for Life is this weekend

More than 400 participants from the Tri-Cities area will walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society this weekend.

Relay for Life draws millions of participants nationwide in a 24-hour relay event that celebrates cancer survivorship, remembers loved ones lost and fights back against cancer.

The relay starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the White Pines Middle School track, 1400 S. Griffin St. in Grand Haven, and ends 9 a.m. Sunday. It will occur rain or shine.

Events during the relay include opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. Saturday, a cancer survivor victory lap at 2 p.m., a fight back ceremony at 7 p.m., a luminary ceremony at 9 p.m. and closing ceremonies on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend and cheer on the more than 20 teams participating this year.

This fundraiser for the American Cancer Society helps support cancer research and treatment.
