SL tennis wins 5 flights to capture Coastal Conference title

Spring Lake won five flights to easily capture the championship title at Saturday's Coastal Conference Tournament.

The event was hosted by Fruitport, but matches were played at Spring Lake High School and Middle School courts.

Spring Lake finished the tournament with 57 points, which bested runner-up Ludington by 12. Third-place honors went to North Muskegon, followed by Whitehall, Fruitport, WMC, Grant, and Fremont.

Winning flight championships for the Lakers were Audrey Amendt at No. 2 singles and Roxane Strobel at No. 3 singles.

The Lakers’ doubles teams also shined, as they produced three conference championship flights.

Winners included Hayley Schram and Madison Khem at No. 1; Faith Lee and Morgan Khem at No. 2; and Jori Henderson and Amanda Twu at No. 3.

Fruitport’s best finish came at No. 3 singles, where freshman Anna LeBeouf placed third.
