Fruitport Township Police officers were called to Beach Elementary School, 2741 Heights-Ravenna Road, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after a 14-year-old boy discovered his wallet was missing. Police said the boy and his 12-year-old friend started looking for the wallet, and then talked to the man — who at first denied knowing anything about it, but then returned the wallet.

The boy checked his wallet and determined cash was missing.

Police later recovered cash from the man in the exact amount and denominations described by the victim.

The man was arrested and lodged in the Muskegon County Jail. His name was not released.
