In October 2011, Timothy Cregg beat his puppy with a hammer and threw the injured dog in a trash bin. The puppy was euthanized because of the injuries.
Cregg, 49, said he hurt his dog because it ruined his comforter.
Cregg pleaded guilty to animal cruelty last month. On Monday, the Muskegon man was sentenced to 221 days in jail with five years probation. He was also ordered to not have pets of any kind and could have unannounced visits by mental health professionals.

This guy is one sick individual
When are animals going to be looked at the same as people? This guys beats a helpless puppy with a hammer, and gets 221 days in jail. How does one come up with a sentence like that? Should be more like 5 years in prison, not a slap on the wrist.
