A 21-year-old Grand Rapids man, who was the driver, and a 21-year-old Coopersville man were reported in stable condition early this morning at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, said Sgt. Matt Wildfong of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. Their names were not released.

Emergency crews were called at 10:10 p.m. after the driver of the car, northbound on 64th Avenue near Cleveland Street, lost control. It went off the east side of the road and rolled over several times into a cornfield, Wildfong said. Both men were ejected from the car.

A third person was initially thought to be missing, but it was determined he was not in the car when it crashed.

The Aeromed ambulance helicopter was called to the scene, but was not used.

Wildfong said the men were not wearing seatbelts and alcohol was a factor in the crash.

I have heard this news from my friend. This is really sad. I hope this will never happen again. People should be much careful on the road. - Texas Lending

Oh yeah, I remember this. It was all over the news and they say it was a really terrifying sight. The car was totaled and all. The news anchor mentioned something about the car fuel tanks on their vehicle going haywire. Maybe it was caused by bad car maintenance. People should pay attention or get new quality parts for their cars too, it is for their safety.

Its again a drunk and drive accident. Its again very clear from this incident that we must follow safety rules. Thank god that both are alive. The police should take actions against people who drink and drive. They pose threats to their lives as well as others.
