Clowns visit ahead of upcoming circus

The clowns entertained at the YMCA Day Camp, Grand Haven Senior Center, Loutit District Library and The Salvation Army.

They will be back Aug. 22 for the circus at Harbor Island, hosted by the local Kiwanis Club. The circus will have two shows that day, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at many local businesses.

The public can watch the elephants put up the Big Top at 9 a.m. Aug. 22 for free.

Proceeds from the shows go to the Kiwanis Club for its many children-oriented programs in the community.

"Last year, Kiwanis brought 200 needy and challenged kids to the circus," said the club's Bill Swano. "This year, we are hoping for many more."
