Sherri Zietlow, 45, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
She was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Community Hospital where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesperson said.
Zietlow was on her way to Spring Lake High School to pick up her son, Kyle, from soccer practice, said soccer coach Jeremy Thelen.
Witnesses said the woman had stopped to allow someone in front of her to turn when she was struck from behind.
The driver of the second vehicle, Christopher Velarde, 18, was uninjured.
He said he checked his rear-view mirror, then looked forward, and saw that the car in front of him had stopped. He said he was not able to avoid it.
