Andrew Nienhuis, 28, of Olive Township, and Jack VanderMeulen, 57, of Holland Township, each suffered facial and head injuries. They were taken by ambulance to Holland Hospital.

Nienhuis was driving his blue Chevy pickup truck north on 136th Avenue, failed to stop at the sign and pulled into the path of VanderMeulen, said Sgt. Brent Converse of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. VanderMeulen was in a white GMC pickup truck and was traveling east on New Holland.

The trucks ended up in the ditch at the northeast corner of the intersection, Converse said. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and their was debris strewn about on the road.

Nienhuis had to be extricated from his vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation.
