Sweet Adelines to sing USO tribute

The West Shore Chorus of Sweet Adelines International will present "A Tribute to the USO' show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

The West Shore Chorus, under the direction of Annette Jurcevic, will perform as well as Shaken Not Stirred, an award-winning quartet from Ontario, and Four Shore, a young men’s quartet from Mona Shores High School.

"A Tribute to the USO" will contain a medley of songs honoring the branches of the armed services.

Tickets cost $15 for the show, which will take place at the Howmet Playhouse, 304 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall.

Any ticket holder who is presently in the service or who has served his or her country is encourage to wear their service hat to the performance. Half of the 50/50 drawing will also be donated to the USO.

West Shore Chorus is a nonprofit, community service organization of Sweet Adelines International, comprised of women who like to sing acapella music, barbershop style. Members live in Fruitport, Grand Haven, Muskegon, North Muskegon, Norton Shores, Spring Lake and Twin Lake. The chorus recently celebrated its 40th year.

Rehearsals are from 7-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Second Reformed Church on Waverly Avenue in Grand Haven. The group is always looking for women who like to sing. For information, call 231-739-6269 or 616-842-6382.
