Bike rally to pedal through Ferrysburg

On Saturday, Sept.15, the North Bank Bike Tour will roll into Ferrysburg and raise money for local rotary club charitable activities.

The tour is a collaborative effort between The Rotary Club of Grand Haven, A Rotary Club of Spring Lake, the Grand Haven Eagles Club 925 and the City of Ferrysburg.

Same-day registration starts at 7 a.m. The starting point for the North Bank Bike Tour is the Coast Guard Park on North Shore Road, which is 1 mile west of the Fire Station in the City of Ferrysburg.

Three routes have been designed, a 20-mile route, a 40-mile route and an 80-mile route, with the 20- and 40-mile routes beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the 80-mile route beginning at 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $40 per individual and $80 per family regardless of distance chosen to ride. All participants ages 21 or older will receive admission to the entertainment tent. The first 200 registrants will receive a water bottle and hat with all other registrants receiving a water bottle.

There will be bus transportation available for family and friends wishing to browse and shop the stores in the City of Grand Haven, Village of Spring Lake or visit the city, county state park beaches located in Grand Haven. Transportation will be available between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at a cost of $1.50 per person each way and may be arranged by calling 616-842-3220.

Net proceeds from the event will go to the Spring Lake Rotary Club and Grand Haven Rotary Club. The Clubs have designated the monies to help fund their commitments to a Honduras water project, which will be providing a fresh water system to a local hospital currently without clean water.

After the North Bank Bike Tour, the Grand Haven Eagles will host an Entertainment Tent and concert. The Eagles have and continue to support other organizations in their efforts to raise money for charitable purposes.

There will be two bands playing that evening. Beginning at 3 p.m., Delilah DeWylde will play until 7 p.m., and, from 7-11 p.m., the Beach Bashers Reunion will play.
