Courtney Lister, 48, said he suspects someone sprayed him Aug. 30 with lighter fluid and then set his legs ablaze.

The unemployed handyman said he fell asleep and woke up to find his "lap ... on fire." He tried to put out the flames and doesn't know how he got to the hospital.

Lister suffered third-degree burns and has spent a month in a local hospital. Nine skin grafts have been performed and doctors worry about infections.

No arrests have been made.

Lister said a few nights before he was set on fire he woke to find a group of teens trying to steal his backpack.
