The Trojans, now 10-6-2 on the season, next play Tuesday at Spring Lake in the championship game of the Lakes Eight Conference tournament.
The Maroons opened the scoring less than a minute into the game on a rebound goal by Tim Boetsma.
The Trojans responded moments before halftime as Zach Gilson scored off an assist from Noah Handricks. Handricks was playing his first game at the varsity level.
With less then 10 minutes remaining in the game, the Trojans scored the game-winner when Kevin Rollenhagen’s long throw-in found its way to Taylor McLaughlin, who knocked a shot into the back of the net.
“The Trojans are starting to find ways to win close games despite not being at full strength,” said coach Greg Kobylak. “This boads well as we go to the last week of the regular season and the MHSAA playoffs. We hope to keep the momentum going.”
Loghan Stong made seven saves for the Trojans.
