Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies and dealer representatives said thieves stole from at least 15 vehicles Monday night at Betten-Baker Chevrolet Buick on O'Malley Drive. They took a minimum of 52 tires and rim sets from Buick Enclave crossovers and Buick Regal sedans.

The value of the property taken is $50,000, according Lt. Mark Bennett of the Sheriff's Department.

Bennett said the thieves appear to be the same as the ones who hit the Ed Koehn Ford Lincoln dealership near Greenville on Tuesday night, taking tire and wheel sets from six cars and stealing a used cargo van.

Detectives believe the criminals may be linked to similar thefts in several counties in west and northern Michigan.

Bennett said it appears the thieves are scoping out the lots and hitting them at opportune moments overnight.

Detectives found evidence left behind at Betten-Baker, including lugnuts from the stolen wheels.
