The wife of Republican candidate Mitt Romney visited the Franklin Cider Mill in the Detroit suburb of Franklin on Friday afternoon. She said the mill is close to where she and her husband grew up, and her family came every fall.

Earlier Friday, Romney made a surprise stop at the Peanut Shop in Lansing following a rally in the Ottawa County community of Hudsonville.

Way to go GH Trib! Having to rely on an AP story to report that she was in Hudsonville, really???

newsblogger

I am sure if the tribune had written the story themselves, that you would have complained about them wasting time writing an article when it was already done by AP Press.

Tri-cities realist

Ah, no I would not. The Trib claims to focus on stories pertinent to our local community, so perhaps Hudsonville was too far away to dispatch a reporter. And I'm just guessing, but in 2008 if candidate obama's wife was anywhere in west Michigan, they would have sent a reporter. Double standard? Naw, that is the stuff of conspiracy theorists. It is just the lack of competency.

On Saturday the online Trib posts an AP story about Biden's truck being stolen & found in Detroit, one month and 10 days after the AP posts the story. I call them on it, figuring I would be censored, and instead they remove the whole story! Great 'award winning reporting' from the staff!

It's getting past the point of rediculous.

Why is it so hard for newspapers to report stories, not influence them? No matter what your political beliefs are, you can see the disservice this offers thinking people.

Hey the Tribs won awards for there excellence!!No need to strive for better now! Besides, the A ttack P ress did a fine piece on the soon to be first lady.

Geez o pete. Everytime I hear her talk I about wanna puke. I never heard anyone like her who is so self-centered in my life. You'd swear the way she goes on about her MS that she was the only person on the planet who suffers from this affliction. She needs to get over herself.

I wish she would have brought her Olympic Dressage horse Rafalca with her. I could just give that horse a huge kiss. I have been struggling for years to figure out some way to turn my boat racing hobby into a tax write off. Thanks to Ann I now know how. Create some trusts for some of my income producing property and characterize my involvement as a passive investor. Then characterize my boat racing investment as a “passive activity”—meaning a business I don’t materially participate in running. Hey, I'm just the Captain. Then I can deduct losses from the one passive activity (Boating) to the extent I have current income from another passive activity (Investments). Which one of you guys is a lawyer and can help me set it up?
