By day, Morgan Young is a 12th-grade student at Grand Haven High School. By night, she's a published writer.

Young’s first book, “Gravedigger,” was published in September. It’s available for purchase online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Although it's her first published work, Young actually finished her first book by the time she was in ninth grade. She worked with an agent, but it wasn’t picked up by a publisher.

This time, Young self-published her book.

She said it’s hard to believe the book is actually sitting on her bookshelf. “It still hasn’t hit me,” she said.

Jeff Young said he is excited and proud of his daughter.

“It’s been really amazing to see it turn into something,” he said.

Jeff said his normally shy daughter has become open and excited about people approaching her about the book.
