Emergency personnel responded to the crash on northbound U.S. 31 at about 8:30 a.m., said Sgt. Steve Austin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
Nelson Stone, 51, of Holland, had his 2004 Chevrolet Impala stopped for a red light at the intersection, when he was hit from behind by a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Victor Barboza-Alonso, 20, of Covert.
Both men suffered minor injuries. They were wearing seatbelts, Austin said.
Barboza-Alonso was ticketed for failure to stop in an assured clear distance ahead.
