Eric McClure, 18, won election to the Athens school board Tuesday with 1,183 votes. Incumbent Dan Loew also won a spot with 1,000 votes, while incumbent Kendra Falk missed the cut with 825 votes.
McClure said he "expected it to be a little bit closer than it was," and he's "surprised by the vote but very, very happy."
Loew said he has no concerns about serving with a student.
McClure is a senior at Athens High School.
The four-year school board terms begin Jan. 1.

Hopefully it turns out better than GH's experience with a student board member.
