Van Buren County Sheriff's deputies were called to the municipal parking lot Thursday morning. They found the man slumped over the steering wheel of the running car.

When the man awoke, he refused to let police in his car, so deputies had a K9 unit sniff around the vehicle for evidence of narcotics. The dog indicated the presence of drugs and police seized the vehicle — finding meth, marijuana and cash.

The 37-year-old Portage man was arrested and was expected to be arraigned today.
