Bucs’ volleyball quarterfinal contest moved to Coopersville

For the second time in a month, the Michigan High School Athletic Association has made things easier on the Grand Haven High School athletic department.

First, the MHSAA moved the Division 1 boys regional championship game between Grand Haven and East Kentwood from Holt High School to Hope College on Oct. 20, saving some serious travel time — and dollars — for the Buccaneers and the Falcons.

Now, the MHSAA has moved Tuesday’s Class A volleyball quarterfinal match between Grand Haven and Grand Rapids Christian from DeWitt to Coopersville.

Again, the move will significantly cut down on travel time and expenses for the two participating schools, which will face off at 7 p.m.

Grand Haven reached Tuesday’s quarterfinal match by winning the program’s first-ever regional championship on Thursday, sweeping Forest Hills Central in three games.

Grand Haven, ranked No. 8 in the final regular-season state rankings, has now won 30 consecutive games. The Bucs will look to build on that number against a Grand Rapids Christian team that beat No. 1-ranked Gull Lake in regional play on Thursday.
