Officers responded to a home at 523 Butternut at 830 p.m. Monday after a 33-year-old resident reported hearing an object hitting the side of the home, said Lt. Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.

The man went outside and found a bottle of what appeared to be flammable liquid. It did not ignite, Bennett said.

Two hours later police responded again after the same victim was threatened with a gun, Bennett said.

The victim went outside the home when a green Astro van pulled up and someone walked up toward the house, Bennett said. The man told police he was approached by a man with a gun, and then threatened. The victim went back into the house unharmed.
