Wings on the Water
It was a smokin' hot poultry party Thursday night at Mill Point Park.
The annual Heritage Festival Wings on the Water event attracted a record number of contestants – eight. And that's exactly what the crowd of about 950 did – ate. They sticky-fingered their way through more then 12,000 wings, according to Heritage Festival President Dave Hamather.
When the smoke cleared and the grills cooled, King of Wings took home the People's Choice award. The judges also placed King of Wings on the top rack, followed by Fish x 2 in second and Chef in a Box in third.
Ann Grahek served up more than 2,000 wings for the winning team. The festival continues Friday and wraps up Saturday with fireworks at 10 p.m. from Mill Point Park.
