Dog wash benefit in Spring Lake

A dog wash at Harborfront Hospital for Animals in Spring Lake on Saturday, Sept. 24, raised $1,100 for a local family with medical expenses not covered by insurance.
Zachery Bugielski, 18, suffered a closed-head injury when he fell from his skateboard on Aug. 23. Zachery’s memory was affected by bleeding on the brain, but his recovering is going well — according to his mother, Amy Van Strate.
But the medical bills have topped $17,000 — with more to come, she said — and the family has no health insurance.
