Linda G. Cairns, 68, died peacefully on February 3, 2013. Her sons were at her side at the end of her valiant fight against an array of health ailments.
Linda resided in the Tri-Cities for almost 40 years after living in a variety of locales as a child and while first married to Dennis Cairns. She was born outside of Detroit to Edsel and Martha Loughlin (both deceased now) and had lived in Grosse Pointe, Mich.; LaGrange and Wilmette, Ill.; Memphis, Tenn.; Bronxville, N.Y.; Puerto Rico; Atlanta, Ga., to name a few. But this was home.
She raised two sons here, Benjamin and David. She was the mother-in-law to Katie Cairns and Michele Kruegel; beloved Grandma to Caroline, Brennan, Graham and Tallulah; loving sister to Charlotte Alberola (and husband, Rene) and Tom Loughlin; and longtime, close friend of Barb and Don Davis.
In her free time, Linda loved sharing and laughing with family and friends. She enjoyed movies. She also liked knitting and sharing the fruits of those labors. As an animal lover, she cared for many pets over the years.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held Sunday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Seven Steps Up, 116 S. Jackson St. in Spring Lake.
As a way to honor her legacy as an animal lover, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Humane Society in her name. Visit www.HumaneSociety.org.
