The Lord is forgiving

Dec 2, 2012

To the Editor: We are deeply sorrowed by what has recently happened between St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church and Deacon Joe Finnigan.

Many times we have heard his homilies. His thoughts and writings were highly stimulating and we often applauded them. So many people attending worship felt this same way.

Many of the parishioners believe that if he gave a rebuttal on what happened, explaining what drove him to do this (medical bills, needing money to pay other bills, or whatever), it would be explainable in this age of uncertainties.

After retributions are made, we feel the Lord is forgiving. We hope to hear from him.

May God bless Joe and his family, and the Lord forgives him for his sin. He will be missed.

Say No To Tourist's

You three sound like a bunch of born again hypocrites, the guy's a thief. Would you have published this opinion if he was molesting your children? Joe Finnigan is a thief, he stole from your churches and you want him forgivin? Do the crime, do the time..........

The Bible does say the Lord forgives the sins. But the consequences a person will have to bear. Just like King David. He committed adultery and had her husband killed to cover it up. Therefore the sword did not depart from his house. David was forgiven- but his family was fighting one another for a long time. Solomon had over 1,000 wives. Yes that was adultery, he was forgiven but read the whole account - his family was a huge, big mess even though he was the richest man on Earth. To be forgiven a person has to repent the way Jesus says to repent and no other way. Following a false Jesus or false teacher as described in the Bible leads only to perdition.

In the United States of America its Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Laws trump what the Bible says about crimes, criminals, and the justice system. We live in a Democracy not a Theocracy.
