LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Lawmakers also should sacrifice

Jun 24, 2011

The lawmakers want state employees to take 10 days off each year without pay. I have never heard of any lawmaker taking even one day off without pay. Nor have I ever heard anyone of them giving up their housing, travel, postage service or any of their benefits.

Rest assured that when they pass the bill that taxes pensions, they will exempt their pension from the new tax.

Gov. Snyder almost got it right. He should have said, “Almost everyone in Michigan will have to sacrifice.”

I missed this letter in June. I agree with Bill Thelen. Well said.
