That storm caused significant damage throughout our small community. The storm snapped poles and brought down trees and branches all over town. In its wake, approximately 25 percent of our customers were left without electrical power. Our small electrical department was overmatched to respond sufficiently.
That is where your community stepped in. The Grand Haven utility sent us personnel and equipment in our time of need. We are grateful.
Each brought expertise and a willingness to tackle the challenges — safely and expediently — which resulted in our customers having power restored in short order.
By Friday noon, all but those awaiting mast repairs had power restored — most well before that! To do so, Grand Haven personnel helped clear, re-hang and replace primary and secondary wiring as well as replace transformers, cutouts, cross-arms and poles. They worked long hours in oftentimes dangerous tangles of trees and wires. Yet, they prevailed.
All in Grand Haven can be very proud of the Grand Haven Board of Light & Power utility and their personnel. Simply put, they were terrific.
You have a great community with outstanding leadership and personnel. We, our employees and our residents, cannot thank you enough.
