LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Votes appreciated

Nov 15, 2011

The best part of the process was getting out, while campaigning, and meeting people in the various neighborhoods throughout the city. Ferrysburg has such wonderful, friendly, sincere and involved citizens. Each distinct neighborhood in Ferrysburg has such unique characteristics that I never really appreciated so much before.

I also want to thank the 188 voters who cast that one deciding vote that passed the city’s much needed vehicle replacement millage. I am committed to making sure the ensuing funds are used wisely. The old adage that “every vote counts” is so true in this case.

I would like to encourage Ferrysburg residents to get involved in serving their city. We have two openings on the City Council that will be filled by appointment by the City Council. There are also openings on other city committees and boards that I encourage involvement.

I look forward to two years of growth and success for our wonderful community.

— Dan Ruiter, Ferrysburg mayor-elect
