I am truly at a loss to adequately express just how deeply humbled and grateful I am for the expressions of sympathy people have shown me, and for their words of encouragement in our common faith.
My faith in Jesus informs me that two of our most important callings are to “love one another as He loved us,” and to be the heart and hands of Christ in service in the world. I have seen the people of Grand Haven demonstrate this over and over again throughout my life; and not just during the difficult moments following the deaths of my brother (Lee John), my mother (Addie), my wife (Phyllis) and now Brian. But there is no doubt that, during these difficult times, I have been carried on the wings of grace that I believe has its source in God and Jesus and has manifested itself in the generosity of spirit of so many people here.
So this letter is to simply say “thank you” to everyone who has been so kind, and to say a specific “thank you” to the Rev. Tom Cook and the people at the Klaassen Funeral Home. Rev. Cook’s eulogy was simply extraordinary; as has been the compassion of the staff at Klaassen’s.
Thank you one and all. In so many ways, I am truly blessed.
