Hey GHT, thank goodness you pulled your election poll just when Romney was walking away with the results at 54% versus Obama at 38%.....wouldn't want to influence an election now, would yee?

43°North

RMoney got 66.7% of the vote in Ottawa County. Yep. looks like the Trib pulling this poll 'so soon' really had a huge impact on voting here. LOL .

Careful dyankee, they will wipe out your post if you start asking questions. You muzt zit in zee corner until zee emperor has left zee room!

I am stunned, surprised, and delighted that in this heavily Republican/conservative community, with all the Tea Party rhetoric displayed on these blogs and in the community, that Obama/Biden got 38% of the community vote. I'm seeing even more support than that figure would indicate among my moderate Republican friends and associates, who tell me they are disgusted with the Romney/Ryan campaign of chronic lying, flip-flopping, the offshore tax havens and no accounting of tax returns, lack of core principles, and disdain for the average American, and are voting Obama/Biden.

Wingmaster

Yup, 38% is one percent worse the actual votes for Obama in '08. That is fact Laninvain, as I just can't find the link I was looking at last night. He is now a standing president and his support in Ottawa county has dropped. We will all know soon...your group of friends must be shrinking!

dyankee

Lan, this is my point that you've completely ignored. Obama's 38% was falling like a stone. If this poll was still up today, Obama's numbers would be close to 30% or less! In most elections a 6pt. difference is considered a landslide. The GHT rescued this pole for Obama down 16pts....you do the math. How can your so called Republican friends be disgusted with Romney/Ryan when they have not even been elected yet? Just my opinon, but I don't think you could BE friends with anyone that has different political views than you.

Wingmaster

Your sly reference could BE observed as an intriguing connection.

dyankee - what kind of a question is that - "how can....friends be disgusted with R/R when they have not been elected yet?" Really?? How about their past records? How about the way they have conducted themselves? Romney: How about the no releasing of taxes back any farther than 2 years? The offshore tax havens? The making 4,000% profit on taxpayer money when investing in Delphi purchase in 2009 during the auto bailout? The verified chronic lying? The Artful Dodging from one position to another, and then another? The denouncing by the auto CEO's for lying, Gov Chris Christie rebuking him, General Colin Powell endorsing his opponent? The lowest popularity ratings and highest disapproval ratings in the state you governed? Sketchy on detail economic and tax plans that no one can make the math add up. And then Ryan: his hypocrisy regarding no abortion for any reason, but cutting all social net spending and increasing the military by 2 Trillion - even the Catholic Bishops have written him letters strongly rebuking him. His scorched earth plan to wipe out all regulations, weaken education, social programs. And then there's the repeal of ObamaCare. The war on womens rights......people have lots of reasons to not vote for R/R. Just because you are in favor of all of the above, doesn't mean other people can't see it. And you should talk - you, Wing, and all the rest are a bunch of whiny guys who really should go take a sabbatical overseas some place - Liberia or Haiti - and see what living with little or no government really looks like.

dyankee

I've got it! The GHT pulled this poll yesterday afternoon with Obama doing well @ 38% because the Republicans were just about to get out of work. lol

Lanivan

dyankee and Wing - you do have a point, and that is that the last 5 years have proven that the GOP - has resorted to so many negatives in their struggle to remain relevant, I do admit to wondering how anyone, friend or otherwise, who is informed could chose the Romney/Ryan ticket. The GOP has literally done nothing but promote lack of respect, lies, fears, hatreds, prejudices, far right radical extremes, intransigence, no core principles, hypocrisy, dishonesty, cronyism, propaganda and brainwashing - the list could go on, but you get the point. I don't know, guys - you seem awfully confident of a Romney win....the betting people say otherwise......
