Creativity breeds creativity

So, you're a mom or dad, and time for such a thing as creative expression is way too low on your priority list. Not a good idea, author Matt Appling says.

In a recent blog post on the Mothers of Preschoolers website, Alexandra Kuykendall chatted with Appling about how to bring out the creative side of your child. Appling is an art teacher and his most recent book, "Life After Art," addresses this issue.

"He speaks to us as one who spends time in the art room with kids of all ages and offers the teacher insight in how to foster the creative spark in our kids and ourselves," Kuykendall wrote. "Get ready to be inspired!"

So, how can moms encourage the artist in their child?

"I think part of it starts with parents carving out space for creative expression in their own lives," Appling responded. "Children love to imitate! They want to participate in what Mom and Dad are doing.

"My family wasn't a very athletic family early on, and I think that shaped my involvement in sports, or lack thereof, later in life," he continued. "But learning, reading and creating had a high priority placed on them, so I came to really value those pursuits early on."

What's up with these "obscure opinions" and little bs editorials in the GH Tribune lately? Just how many 16 year olds are on staff publishing this rag?

Nice.... pump my post 2x to make me look like an idiot. I can do that on my own without the Trib's kiddy help. Moderators, censorship and games. Go get your shot in the rump, a Proactive Plus kit and call me in the morning.
