Personally, I'm tired of Dewy Hill being used as a "Billboard Backdrop" for everything from the Christian community thinking they own it every Sunday to display that god awful, over-sized white cross to their Camel caravan, sheep, and people figures draped across the front of the entire hill. Then they have the audacity to say, there's equal representation of religion because they display a Jewish Menorah placed at the bottom of the hill that’s about 1/20th the size of the cross. I don’t know who they’re fooling, but it’s sure not me especially when I know many considered “Prominent” Christian figures in this community who have said less than favorable bias comments and what they consider “jokes” about not only the Jewish race, but others as well such as the believers in Muhammad and Islam. I’m completely fine with the Musical Fountain, but other than that, leave Dewy hill alone to display it’s natural beauty for all to find awe in and leave the man-made symbols and advertising for highway billboards, magazines, and newspapers.

Christians go to the waterfront to worship and praise a wonderful God who has made a lot of things in America possible. America was founded on Christian principals. If I went to another country or place and found that people were praising their god I would respect their right. If I found it offensive I would move on. I would also expect that people would respect our right to praise and worship here in America too. I thank God that our founding fathers took the time to draw up the constitution to give us liberties.

I was taught as a child that if you did not agree or like something...to just move on. People find awe in Dewye Hill and all other nature because their come to realization that God is an awesome god and we give thanks to Him.

great lakes chick

I think since Grand Haven is THE Coast Guard City, the signage should be up on Dewey Hill to let the Coast Guard know they're appreciated. The Coast Guard is a big part of why the Great Lakes are Great. Where does it stop? No more Coast Guard City, U.S.A. and no more fireworks during Coast Guard or 4th of July? I won't get into the religious part too much, but I respect others' religious beliefs...so if there are no more signs for the Coastguard Men and Women, then there shouldn't be anything religious up on Dewey either. That shouldn't be up there especially since there's not a decent balance of religion shown.

Be proud that Grand Haven is Coast Guard City, U.S.A. and particularly proud of the Coast Guard...do it loud and proud on that giant, beautiful hill named Dewey.
