Thumbs Down

Thumbs down to the folks who forget how to drive on ice and snow.
Dec 10, 2013

Please slow down and leave plenty of room between you the the guy or gal in front of you while driving on our roads.

See the Tribune Opinion page for your daily dose of our Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down!

I second that!
Match your speed with others or the vehicle in front of you, please, no tailgating and never assume intersection approaches are treated and above all, give yourself plenty of room to stop if the car in front of you has problems!
If you are inexperienced or timid leave earlier or later and avoid the "big" rushes and you will find it much easier to navigate.

Here's a toughie...clean the snow off your car! Nothing worse than someone so lazy they can't clear their car of snow before climbing behind the wheel. That means the top of your vehicle so the snow doesn't blow and cover your back window and tail lights. Clear the snow from your headlights and tail lights so people have an idea where you are and what you are doing. Slow down, maybe get up 5 minutes earlier and leave sooner. The posted speed limit is not safe in snow and ice!
