Thumbs down to the prospect of gas prices going up in the coming months.

... Four-dollars-per-gallon gas just isn't great for tourism.

I wonder whatever happened to Darts and Flowers.

I remember at one point paying 79 cents/gallon in the mid-late 90's which is the cheapest gas I've ever seen in West Michigan. In summer 2000 the concept that gas was over $2/gallon was just shocking and everyone was upset about it. Nowadays anyone who thinks it'll ever get back under $2 probably is breathing too many of the fumes. Even sub-$3 prices might be too much to hope for, although it would be a real gasser.

When the price spiked in summer 2008 the airlines all introduced their 'temporary' baggage fees to make up for high fuel costs, although even back then everyone knew those fees were never going away. They should have been more careful about inflaming the situation by throwing even more gas on the fire when their customer relationships were already so combustible.

The Darts & Flowers column (from Tribune readers) is still published on the Opinion page every Friday.

Ahh, glad to hear it's still around. Is it posted online or is it only available in the paper version?

Only in the print and e-edition.

DART to the TidyNetwork crap on the trib now. What a mess. That will keep people away for sure.

I recall my Dad crabbing about $.20 gallon at Chets Sunoco in Whitehall
