And the winter was VERY long, so yes, the car crash numbers would be up.

I wonder what percentage of those people were texting or talking on there cell phone when these accidents happened. The insurance industry recognises talking on a cell phone is equall to driving drunk, yet we allow it because it is socially acceptable. How about starting mothers against cell phone drivers. Trouble is its usually the soccer moms doing a ll the talking while driving. Sorry for the generalisation but I see it all the time. I won't even ride my harley any more between 3 and 5 pm. Please put the phone down and drive your vehical. If you need to make a call or answer a call safely pull over into a parking lot or side of the road. This is getting out of hand. Our children are learning by whatching the parents.

Based on your assumptions Robtown, don't you think the weather played a key role this winter vs cell phone use? Now what about the people like me who have onboard bluetooth? That's no different than talking to your passenger correct?

Why blame everything on cell phones?

Yes I am sure the weather played a major role here. But compound the slippery roads with people texting and talking on the phone and here you have it. I have blue tooth in 2 of my 3 vehicals and yes it is a major improvement. 2 hands on the wheel. However I do not answer or make calls in traffic or have long conversations while driving. My phone calls average less than 2 minutes. Normaly I just pull over and call them back. I know how to drive to begin with. 40 years without a ticket or recordable accident. Never been in the ditch. I think if you were talking on the phone while going in the ditch or involved in an accident, you get a serious citation. 2 times you lose your license. No different than a DD.
