Find bomb threat caller

We now possess the technology to make a video call on our cellphones to friends and family across the country.

And we can put a man on the moon and send a robot rover to Mars.

So, shouldn't we be able to figure out who made the threatening telephone call to Jeanne’s Café in Grand Haven on New Year's Day?

The caller said there was a bomb in the building, which forced the immediate evacuation of the popular breakfast spot, as well as several other businesses on the block.

The bomb threat turned out to be false — thank goodness. But the call had plenty of ill effects nonetheless.

The restaurant was closed for a few hours as the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 and explosives teams searched the building. That’s a lot of lost revenue for the restaurant’s owner, not to mention quite a bit of mental duress that owner Jeanne Welling had to endure.

The person responsible for this call should be tracked down and held accountable for his or her actions. With the technology available today, we find it hard to believe that local law enforcement officials don’t have the means to find out where the call came from.

Nobody should be allowed to get away with this type of action.

Grand Haven Police must be not technical at all. Have you looked at your telephone bill recently? Every call phone number is listed, even local ones. Also I am sure that the police can make a simple phone call to the telephone company and get the print out for all the calls recieved that day. What are they doing?

If it was one of the "pay as you go" cell phones they called from, they wouldn't get any information other then the phone number. Which would be useless, since no name or any other information would be attached to the phone/account.

Poor Jeanne!! Yeah right! I happen to not only know who made the call, but also that Jeanne knows who made the call!!! She called the police uneccessarily and brought the situation upon herself when she already knew who the call was from and that it was not serious before calling the police. If anything she should be charged with being an accessory and filing a false police report!!

What's with the attitude? They burn your toast once or what?

Well Purplepeople, I assume you are either a Barney fan or Minnesota; I will hope for Minnesota. As for your comment; seriously, you know who made the call? Seriously, you know for a fact and can prove that Jeanne knew who made the call as well? If your next action isn't to call the Sherriff Department then please never post on this site again. If Jeanne knew about this and is allowing this to escalate then this is a criminal action. If you are full of it, then shame on you. Someone needs to come clean here! If you actually know who is responsible for this mess and do nothing; you are as guilty as if you had done it yourself. Get a pair and end this thing if you can.

Why the snide comments to purplepeople? He/she is right. Jeanne should step up and admit she made a mistake. Also, why are we all so quick to assume that the police don't know? We seem to have a bad habit in this town of thinking that if we are not immediately informed of all the details, it's because the cops don't know anything. Do we ever stop to think that not everything is released, that things may be held back to be used as evidence?
