After viewing some of the new exhibits — LaSalle and the Wreck of LaBelle, Lewis Cross, Life on the Grand, and Birchbark and Bateaux — I have come to understand why visitation to the museum has increased 17 percent in the first quarter on top of already seeing a 18 percent increase in last year’s overall attendance. As a member, I have continued to see an increase in opportunities to participate in museum activities such as volunteering for The Feast of the Strawberry Moon gathering, attending many fine exhibit openings/member-related activities and many other great public events that are held throughout the year.
I congratulate the present museum staff for their revamping of the museum publications “River Winds” and “The Grand River Packet." They now look and read like professional publications. I for one am very proud to have been involved behind the scenes for many years and to be part of such a great organization located here in the Tri-Cities. Therefore, I am supporting a “YES” vote to renew the millage in Grand Haven, Grand Haven Township and Ferrysburg for the Tri-Cities Museum on Aug. 7.
Please get out and show your support for our great Tri-Cities institution.
