The last week of July, we took a family camping trip. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and thoroughly enjoyed our time on the beach, in the lake, watching sunsets and sitting around the campfire.
I was grateful to see the Rev. Justin Smith’s carefully thought-out response to my previous columns on homosexuality and same-sex relations. I would, however, like to respond to some of the points he raised.
Earlier this summer, tennis player Serena Williams won the Wimbledon Women’s Singles Championship. It was the fourth consecutive Grand Slam tournament win for the world’s No. 1-ranked player, and was coined the “Serena Slam.”
The fall college semester begins in a few weeks, and as I have been getting ready and already answering students’ questions, it occurs to me that there has been a significant change in educational opportunities since I was an undergraduate decades ago.
