To the Editor: The Opinion (community column) in your May 16 edition (Nicolas Occhipinti, “Michigan is a low-performing recycling state”) cited Michigan's very low recycling rate of 14 percent, and how that compares to the recycling performance throughout the United States and in some our neighboring states with rates above 35 percent.
