I like to listen to sports radio, especially while driving. Over the past number of months, some of the top sports stories have concerned players getting caught illegally using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).
Conservative and tea party groups have elevated capitalism to an exalted status, confusing it with concepts like democracy and freedom. As a result, regulation is seen as an assault on American values.

Next Tuesday, November 5, in Grand Haven, we all have the responsibility to go to our polling places and to cast our ballots for our choices to represent us on the Grand Haven City Council.
On November 5, the voters in the Spring Lake Public Schools district will be asked to consider a $59.8 million bond program to fund: a new elementary campus; enhance district-wide technology; upgrade the Intermediate and Middle School, High School and other district buildings to meet current program needs and implement energy savings measures; replace furniture; and purchase buses.
To the Editor: The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg met on September 24 and voted to endorse the City of Grand Haven’s Infrastructure Improvement Project Bond Proposal that will be placed on the November 5 ballot for consideration by its residents.
